How To Care For Your Leather Bags

Product Care

Our bags are crafted from carefully selected full grain or top grain calfskin and cowhide leathers, each with its own natural grain, texture and character. Like all genuine leather, it will naturally develop subtle changes over time. These marks and variations are part of the material's individuality and, with care, can become part of the story of your bag.

Everyday Care

Handle with clean hands
Natural leather can absorb oils, lotions and other substances from the skin. Clean, dry hands are recommended when handling your bag.

Protect from moisture
Keep your bag away from rain, water and excessive humidity whenever possible. If the leather becomes wet, gently remove excess moisture with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature.

Avoid direct heat
Do not use a hairdryer, heater or other direct heat source to dry your bag. Excessive heat can affect the leather's surface, colour and shape.

Avoid prolonged sunlight
Extended exposure to direct sunlight can gradually affect the colour of leather. When not in use, store your bag away from strong sunlight and heat.

Keep away from chemicals
Perfume, alcohol, cosmetics, oils, hand sanitiser and cleaning products may stain or alter the appearance of leather. Allow these products to dry before carrying your bag.

Cleaning

For everyday dust or light surface marks, gently wipe the leather with a clean, soft, dry cloth.

Avoid household cleaners, alcohol-based products, baby wipes and abrasive materials unless specifically recommended for the particular leather.

Do not apply leather conditioner, polish or other treatment without first confirming that it is suitable for your specific Lemor leather. Different finishes and colours can react differently to care products.

Storage

When your bag is not being used:

  • Store it in its original Lemor dust bag.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place.
  • Avoid plastic bags or airtight containers.
  • Keep the bag away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Maintain its shape by gently filling the interior with clean, acid-free tissue paper or a suitable soft material.
  • Avoid overfilling, which may permanently alter the shape of the bag.
  • Store straps and handles without sharp bends or unnecessary pressure.

Caring for Your Calfskin Leather

Calfskin is prized for its fine grain, smooth feel and refined appearance. Its delicate surface deserves particular care.

Avoid rubbing the leather against rough surfaces and take extra care with darker clothing, denim and materials that may transfer colour onto lighter leather.

Small variations in grain, tone or texture are natural characteristics of genuine calfskin and are not necessarily imperfections.

Caring for Your Cowhide Leather

Cowhide is known for its durability, natural character and distinctive grain.

Over time, regular use may create subtle changes in colour and texture. These natural signs of use can add character to the leather and make each bag uniquely yours.

As with all natural leather, avoid excessive moisture, heat, friction and contact with chemicals.

A Note on Natural Leather

No two pieces of genuine leather are exactly alike.

Natural grain variations, subtle differences in texture and minor tonal variations are part of the beauty of real leather. With use, your Lemor bag may develop a richer character and a unique patina.
